The ambiguous references made to the officers conducting the trash pull as part of a narcotics investigation do not constitute impermissible references to other crimes under jurisprudence. Although the state improperly impeached defendant with the facts surrounding a prior conviction for interfering with a police officer, the error was harmless based on the testimonial and physical evidence showing defendant fired his weapon at a fleeing vehicle in the street.
